Summary Note
Julia Evarts is still healing from the loss of her young son, Josh, when she returns home to find an anonymous culinary chain letter sitting on her porch: a plate of Amish Friendship Bread along with a Ziploc filled with the gooey starter, topped with a simple Post-It note, I hope you enjoy it. She is instructed to feed the starter over a ten-day period then bake two loaves of bread and share the remaining starter with three other people. As the Friendship Bread makes its way through the quirky town of Avalon, (including into the home of Julia's estranged sister, Livvy, whom Julia has long blamed for Josh's death), three women - each with her own secrets and regrets - find themselves drawn together and their lives inexplicably changed.
